This gift grants insight into the mysteries of faith and divine truths. Therefore, it deepens one’s comprehension of Scripture and the teachings of the Church, leading to a profound appreciation of God’s plan for humanity.
Counsel
The gift of counsel bestows the ability to make sound decisions, seeking guidance from the Holy Spirit. It helps individuals to discern God’s will in various situations and choose the path that aligns with His plan. It is also called Right Judgement.
Fortitude
It is also called Courage. This gift imparts inner strength and courage to face challenges, endure hardships, and stand firm in one’s faith, even in the face of adversity or persecution.
Knowledge
The gift of knowledge enables individuals to have a deeper understanding of God’s purpose and truths, not merely through human intellect but through divine revelation.
Piety
The gift of piety fosters a deep sense of reverence, love, and devotion towards God. It inspires a sincere desire to worship and serve Him with a humble and pure heart. It is also called Reverence.
Fear of the Lord
Also called Awe and Wonder. This gift instills a profound respect and awe for God’s majesty and greatness. It leads to a desire to avoid sin and to live in awe of God’s presence and holiness.
These seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, thus, enrich the spiritual life of believers, helping them grow in faith, love, and holiness. They are also work in conjunction with the twelve fruits of the Holy Spirit, which are expressions of the Christian life resulting from the faithful exercise of these gifts.
